Little Poland

 

Day 1:

Arriving to Wrocław or Katowice. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 2:

Tychy: visiting the brewery (one of the largest in Poland). Oświęcim: visiting the former extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Alternative program: Częstochowa: a visit to the most popular Polish sanctuary at the Pauline monastery on Jasna Góra (Bright Mount), famous as the spiritual heart of Poland - time for a prayer in front of the miraculous icon of Black Madonna. Then (both programs): The Cracow-Częstochowa Upland, also known as the Polish Jurassic Highland: a stunning landscape of limestone rocks and ruins of medieval castles, visiting Ogrodzieniec Castle. Transfer to Cracow.

 

Day 3:

Cracow – a walking tour in the Old Town: the Kings’ Castle Wawel with its chambers and the Cathedral, where the Polish kings were crowned and buried, the Main Market Square (the largest in Poland) with the Cloth Hall and the tower of the former Town Hall, St. Mary Church with the famous wooden altar carved by Veit Stoss in the 15-th century, the gate Brama Floriańska with the Barbican, the former Jewish district Kazimierz.

 

Day 4:

Wieliczka: visiting the oldest active salt mine in Poland – a very unique example of this kind (the UNESCO World Heritage site), lunch in the underground restaurant 132 m under the ground level. Transfer to Zakopane.

 

Day 5:

The cable car ride to Kasprowy Wierch (1985 m above sea level) in the Tatra Mountains or to Gubałówka (one of the hills by Zakopane) – in good weather conditions you will admire a stunning view of the Tatra Mountains. If the weather is perfect, possibly we will hike up to the mountain lake Morskie Oko (one of the most beautiful) instead. Coming back to Zakopane. Time for buying souvenirs in the main street Krupówki. Dinner in a regional restaurant with the regional folk music.

 

Day 6:

Transfer to the Pieniny Mountains, to the village of Sromowce Niżne. Hiking to Trzy Korony (Three Crowns) – the highest mount in Pieniny (982 m above sea level) and admiring the view of the Dunajec River Valley. After coming back, transfer to Sromowce Wyżne. Gentle rafting on the Dunajec River to Szczawnica through the breakthrough of Pieniny. Some rest in Szczawnica spa.

 

Day 7:

Niedzica: a visit to the medieval castle located in a picturesque area on the bank of the water reservoir in the valley of Dunajec River. Transfer to Cracow Airport.
